BOLZANO WALKING & GUIDED TOUR

The walking tour of Bolzano is an "immersion" in the medieval past of the area, when the Counts of Tyrol dominated the Historical Tyrol and the Bolzano markets define the economy of the entire eastern Alpine arc. With a guide you will discover the nineteenth-century Piazza Walther and the ancient Cathedral dedicated at first to the cult of "Maria in Palude" and, developed, in that of "Maria l'Assunta", in flamboyant Gothic style. The imposing four-color diamond-shaped cover in glazed larch wood shingles is majestic. Internal visit of the Cathedral with valuable Giotto-inspired frescoes, marble pulpit and more. Continue o the small but interesting Piazza del Grano on which the Palazzo della Pesa, with its 14th century signs, looks out. Piazza del Grano was a sort of "Piazza della Borsa" in which the grains are listed every year, establishing the market price throughout the territory, until the next harvest. Than you enter in the famous and fourteenth-century "Via dei Portici" or, better, "Laubengasse": the true heart of the historic center. 200 meters long and with the presence of about 120 Erkers (the typical polygonal windows), it is equipped with its ancient buildings, the stories and legends of its most illustrious inhabitants, the bright colors and the austere architectural structures one of the most frequent walks and photographed.

"Hidden" corners of the South Tyrolean capital will be visited ... only known to the inhabitants of Bolzano and then to reach the medieval "via degli Argentieri", home of the bankers, money changers and usurers ... a shelter of the trade route. The visit will end with another route along the "via della Mostra" with its elegant and seventeenth-century causes ... and then find yourself again in Piazza Walther.
